Mount Hermon Ski Resort Retaliation - Morning June 2nd 2019

Escalation Cause

On the eve of the 1st June 2019, reports around 2040 local time (Israel) started to surface of explosions heard in the area of the Mount Hermon Ski Resort due to rocket fire from Syria. IDF confirmed around 10 minutes later that “two projectiles” had been fired towards Israel from Syria. One impact was reported in the Ski Resort, another fell short into Syria.

IDF Response

In the early hours of the 2nd June 2019, the IDF responded to this strike. The retaliation took place between the hours of 0300 and 0400 local. In the response the IDF struck several locations as documented by themselves, all locations belonged to the SAA (Syrian Army):

- 2 artillery batteries

-Observation & intel posts

- An SA-2 aerial defense battery

Tel Al-Sha’ar, this was the second time in a week this location was struck. Believed to be the SA-2 aerial defense battery.

No significant scaring can be seen for this location however the IDF released a video which is believed to be from this strike:
