Romanian Coast Guard injures 3 turkish fishermen in the black sea

A Turkish fishing boat is claimed to have illegally entered Romanian territory 52 nautical miles east of Constanta in the early hours of the 20th May.

A Romanian coast guard vessel was dispatched to escort the fishing boat out of Romanian territorial waters. The Turkish boat did not respond to verbal warnings from the Romanian coast guard. Warning shots were fired at the vessel which subsequently injured 3 Turkish fishermen, 2 in the legs and 1 in the hip.

8 Turkish nationals were detained in total and they are currently being held in Constanta. Turkey is predicted to file an application for the extradition of the fishermen in the coming days.
